POSTPONED: Scholarship Competition
Event Date Apr 24, 2020

FGI of Dallas Scholarship Competition
March 17, 2020

We hope that each of you are doing well during these challenging circumstances surrounding the recent updates with the local and federal government regarding the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

The FGI of Dallas office will not be able to receive any Scholarship Competition entries because the World Trade Center/Dallas Market Center is closed temporarily; thus our inability to accept garments through any shipping companies.

Granting these funds is our primary focus, as we understand that students look forward to and need financial assistance for their bright future in the fashion industry.

At this time we will be postponing the deadline for entries until further notice.  We encourage students to continue to create their entries, when they are able to resume normal activities.  The deadline for entries, the judging and allocation of scholarship monies, will be resumed at the end of the summer and before the 2020 fall semester begins.

This opens more questions for most of you and we are doing our best to make a plan to have answers for you.  This is new territory for us all, implementing a plan is foremost on our minds.

We ask that you begin these conversations with your department heads and instructors, with how your college mandates and regulates the competition entries and student winners in which student’s scholarship funds/earnings, is processed through your school.  Understanding that colleges are physically moving out now and online classes have started, many students have reached out to us with numerous questions.

This process of postponement will allow instructors to over-see their students garment entries as well as sign off on the entry forms; which all guidelines must be met by both student and instructor alike.

Many students have already created their garments, so we want to respect their devotion to our competition.  As well as allowing Seniors who may be graduating at the end of this semester the opportunity to enter their garments this summer, deadline date to be determined after ban is lifted for quarantines.  This deadline will take place before the fall semester begins.

Please contact us by email if you have any further questions, as we understand there will be a few, we will do our very best to find the answers for you as quickly as possible.  Thank you for your patience!
